Black Sash Conference
July 23 - 29

The Hwa Rang tradition has existed for the past 2,000 years. These warriors studied all aspects of life and lead the Silla kingdom of Korea to last for over 1,000 years, making it the longest lasting civilization in human history. We must continue to strive towards excellence in order to ensure that our tradition lasts for another 2,000 years as we evolve toward our common future. Whether you are running your own dojang or assisting someone in running theirs, continuing your education is a must. This conference will cover everything needed to manage and teach in a dojang as well as the details of your Dan Degree required material. This year the conference will also be open to all individuals who wish to become professional Hwa Rang Do Instructors, including color belts and practitioners from other arts that wish to switch arts. Monday and Tuesday night Sessions will be open to the Public and other ranking students!!!

Black Sash Celebration
Saturday night Dinner and Party – Sunday BBQ and Pool Party – $40 per person

*Necessary Equipment

You must have all proper uniforms, weapons, gear, and other equipment appropriate for all ranks up to your dan ranking for the Conference. If you need anything, you must order in advance.
*For some of the sessions there will be equipment you need that is outside of your regular dan material. It is STRONGLY encouraged that you have Kumdo armor for all Mugidaeryun sessions. There will also be time in the mornings during Free Practice for Mugidaeryun practice and matches with Master Lee. During the Moogidaeryun “Weapon Fighting” sessions we will be covering weapon fighting with the additional weapons, again armor is recommended and you must have jukdo, 2 jung jukdo (2 middle size jukdo – 21” halfsize jukdo), and a rattan jang bong. If you need Kumdo armor or any of this equipment please contact the Westcoast Headquarters. Also, if you need a real live blade sword please contact World Headquarters, as we will be covering proper live blade cutting techniques in the “Begisul” session.

Accommodations
You may stay at the dojangs or if you wish a local hotel.
